Well, it finally happened. Arsenal had not lost in 49 matches in a row in the English Premier League until today with Manchester United beating them 2-0.

I watched the game @ Nevada Smith's in NYC. Great atmosphere, unfortunate however that the game's biggest play was a disputable penalty on Wayne Rooney. If the game's at Highbury, there's no way that call is made.

What did you think of the match booze? Was Arsenal playing not to lose? Were there many good chances of goals?

1st half was excellent. Pretty open play on both ends, with I would say Arsenal looking a little more dangerous. Man U was fortunate not to have Rio Ferdinand sent off early when Freddy Lundberg had broken free on the keeper. Roy Carroll, in for Tim Howard looked solid in net though for United and made an excellent save on Henry, where Howard might not have even left his line. Another plus I thought for United was their midfield with Scholes & Giggs creating a couple of good chances of their own.

2nd half it seemed as though United was creating a few more opportunities, and even though I don't think they deserved the penalty decision, I guess every team's entitled to some sort of home field advantage. I still think Arsenal is by far the team to beat this year, but maybe Utd. will pick up some momentum after this big win. They also have a very nice problem on their hands right now with 4 healthy world class strikers in Van Nistelroy, Rooney, Alan Smith, and Louis Saha.

What do you think Quantum? Any chance Arsenal can be cought? Or can Chelsea/Man U give em a run?

Certainly! Chelsea is only 2 points behind. Everton is only 3 points behind but I don't know if they have the experience to catch Arsenal. I think Man Utd. is too far away to catch them though.
